Throw an asteroid to mars and make it closer to earth?

Cant we just throw an asteroid at mars and make it closer to the sun, like near earth and throw a bunch of carbon into its atmosphere to keep the temperature stable. That will melt the ice caps and give use drinkable water. Then sent plants to it and there we go. :)
