Difference between meiosis and mitosis?

The main difference between meiosis and mitosis is that meiosis occurs in the reproductive organs, while mitosis does not. Mitosis occurs everywhere else in the body. Meiosis is responsible for reproducing cells. Mitosis produces two identical daughter cells. Meiosis produces four different cells, that are geneticaly different due to crossing over. The cells that are produced from meiosis only have half the number of chromosomes as a normal cell.
